Questions
What people ask first
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans directly and are out of network with others. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid from this office. The front desk checks your plan before your first visit and tells you what it finds.
Can I be reimbursed with a superbill?
A superbill is an itemized receipt, with the date, the kind of visit and a diagnosis code, that you can send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. Your plan decides whether it pays and how much, so ask before you start.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you pay without insurance you have the right to a written estimate of the cost of your care before it starts. We send one before your first visit. If a final bill is $400 or more above it, you can dispute the bill. The estimate is not a contract.
How do fees work, and can I use an HSA or FSA card?
The fee depends on the kind of visit and how long it lasts, and it is given to you in writing before you start. You pay at the end of the visit, and HSA and FSA cards work.
What happens at the first visit?
You talk with one prescriber for about an hour: why you are here, your sleep and your day, everything you take and what you would like to change. Before you leave you have a plan in writing, and the prescriber explains the risks of anything suggested.
How often will I come, and for how long?
Your prescriber sets the pace with you. After the evaluation, follow-up visits are about 25 minutes, and how far apart they are depends on what you take and how you are doing.
Are you licensed where I live?
We are licensed in Nevada. For a video visit you need to be in Nevada at the time of the visit. If you are somewhere else, we can talk about colleagues near you.
What do I do in a crisis?
Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This office is not monitored around the clock, and a message sent through this site is not read right away.
What is confidential, and what are the limits?
We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. The prescriber explains the limits at your first visit, such as a risk to your safety or someone else's, or a legal request.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give us 24 hours' notice to change or cancel a visit, so the time can go to someone else. Call or write to us and we will find another time.
Do you prescribe controlled medication by video?
No. We do not start a controlled medicine at a video visit. Prescribing decisions come after an evaluation, under the written prescribing policy, and a controlled medicine is considered only after an in-person visit.
Will I need labs?
Only if they matter for a choice. Some medicines call for a blood test first or from time to time. If yours does, the prescriber explains why and writes the order, and you go to a lab near you.
